What Every Box Costs
US MSRP is $35 for Starter Set 01, $40 per expansion pack, $50 for the paint pack, $55 for the scenario pack and $100 to $170 for deluxe sets. Japan list price is 3,500 yen for the starter and 9,000 yen for Deluxe Set 01.
Gundam Assemble is sold as fixed SKUs, not as a points-based range. Every box has an MSRP, and the launch wave runs from October 2026 to March 2027.

Prices and dates are Bandai's published MSRP and month, from the official product list. Retail pricing varies and pre-orders often discount the $40 packs.
Japan list prices
The Japanese product pages give yen prices excluding tax:
- Starter Set 01: 3,500 yen, launched 31 October 2026
- Deluxe Set 01: 9,000 yen, November 2026
At current exchange rates those are broadly in line with the dollar MSRP, so there is no obvious import arbitrage on the starter. The deluxe is a different story when shipping is included.
Buy this first
One Starter Set. It is the only box with teaching scenarios, and it is a complete two-player game.
Already set on the 5v5 format? Deluxe Set 01 is the second purchase, not an alternative first one - it does not repeat the starter's six units. The starter vs deluxe comparison breaks down what each box contains.
After that, Expansion Packs are the cheapest way to change how the game plays, because they add both units and Tactics cards. Scenario Pack 01 at $55 adds scenarios rather than models, which is expensive per component but cheap per hour if you play the same board repeatedly.
On shelves right now
Bandai's global site lists the products but does not sell direct outside Japan. In the US, specialist Gunpla retailers carry the range; Gundam Planet runs a dedicated Gundam Assemble collection, and hobby shops that stock Bandai Hobby generally get the same allocations.
Availability in the first months has been uneven by SKU: starter sets move fastest, and the $170 deluxe sets are the ones that sit. If a specific expansion is out of stock, the reason is usually allocation rather than discontinuation - all fifteen SKUs are current.
The cost of a missing SKU
Because the game is scenario-driven, a missing expansion is not fatal. The starter set plus any two expansion packs gives you enough units to build multiple 3v3 squads, and the Tactics deck rules mean a wider card pool is useful but not mandatory.
The one purchase that is hard to substitute is a second map. Only the deluxe sets include one, and scenario variety drops sharply if you play the starter map every game.
Avoiding the common overspend
- Do not buy three expansion packs before your first game. Six models is a painting backlog already.
- Do not buy the $170 deluxe sets for the models alone; you are paying for the 5v5 format and the second map.
- Do buy nippers before your second box. Runners are not designed to be twisted apart.
